In Delaware, alimony payments in a divorce is a sharing of income by the party with greater financial resources with the party with fewer resources (called the dependent party).
The amount of alimony paid depends on the dependent spouse’s income and expenses, and on whether their income is appropriate and whether their expenses are reasonable. Their income needs to be appropriate to their age, experience, education and employment history.
