What Should I Do if I Get Bitten by Someone Else’s Dog?

Unfortunately if you are bitten by someone else’s dog and you do not know that person, there’s some information that you need to gather; very much like information you would gather if you were in a car accident. You want to find out the name and address of that person, you want to confirm that person owns the dog, and that the dog has had proper shots and is properly licensed and registered. If you are injured, you may have a right to have your medical bills paid by that person’s homeowner’s insurance or regular insurance.
You have to make sure that you’re protected by consulting an attorney. Different rules apply to different situations in dog bite cases. My experience is that most such cases occur on the property of the owner, but if somebody happens to be walking their dog in front of your house and you get bitten, you need to know what your rights are. Absolutely consult an attorney if that happens.
