- Check to see whether there are cracked or loose tiles, ripped carpets, and loose or rotted wood floorboards
- Make sure all smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors are working
- Make sure all light switches and light fixtures work to make sure power has been turned on in the property
- Test the heating and air conditioning to make sure they both work
- Test all locks on interior and exterior doors and windows
If the renter does notice that there are issues with the property, it is important that they notify their landlord. In addition, they should ask their landlord to make all repairs and get written confirmation that the landlord agrees to make these repairs.
