People often focus on the negatives of a divorce: How can I financially afford to live? What will happen to my kids? Who is going to pay the bills?
You have every right to be angry or dislike who your spouse has become. However, remember why you are in this position and where you want to be. That is an important process. Your attorney should assist you in this process and help you put your best foot forward by advocating for you and your children. However, it is even more important to focus on the positives of ending an unhealthy relationship and open yourself up to improvement by living an emotionally satisfying life after divorce. As a survivor of divorce with young twins at the time, and an attorney primarily practicing in family law, I can tell you that it gets better. In fact, it gets amazing— I promise!
