The motion may involve pre-judgment matters through a divorce litigation, post-judgment matters, or simply child support or child custody matters for individuals who aren’t married. Essentially, you have 15 days to respond. If your motion date is on a Friday, you have the two Thursdays before to respond, to have that paperwork in both the court’s hands and in the other party’s hands. Normally when you’re served with a motion, you should consult with an attorney to help walk you through the process and make sure your rights are being protected.
